AA12 Round 14

Result: Win 3-1 v Pennant Hills

Scorers: Mel, Kyle, Matty

Our last Sunday game had surprisingly few absentees, with just Southy & Stathis away. Scott, Bol and Kyle filled for us, and we got underway without a ref against a team we should have beaten last time. We found it difficult to score in the quagmire of a box that was the Penno goal, with some hilarious attempts at goal following some good lead up play. Eventually though, Mel worked out that if you shoot from outside the box you can avoid the mud, slotting our first. Our backs had probably their worst half of the season, but some poor finishing and good keeping kept them at 0.

Second half saw more Puma domination, but Penno pulled one back with some miscommunication at the back. But we steadied with with our second coming from an Erik head to Kyle on the line, who turned and finished. Matty added a final goal on a break to make it 3. Not the most convincing win, but another 3 points in the bag we are on the charge for a top 2 finish with two tough games to finish the season.

MOTM: Matty. Was running riot up front all day and could have had 4 if we supported him properly.

U10/4 Round 14

RESULT: Win 7-0 v Eastwood Epping

SCORERS: Jeremy Bingham – 1, Tim Ng – 1, Aaron Kelly – 1, Daniel Wilkins – 2, Joel Crawford – 2

The team had yet another comprehensive win this week. They are still undefeated for the season. The pitch was a mud bath with the ball and boys splashing through puddles in the middle of the field. The team played well as a unit with some great passing and crosses despite the trying conditions. The score could have been even bigger if not for some great defending from the opposing goalie. In the first half of the game there were many shots on goal that were saved but half way through the first half, they began to find the back of the net.

The defense line of Wilfred, Ben M, Ben S and Oliver were strong again with our goalies Riley and Sam only touching the ball once or twice. The mid fielders (Joel, Aaron, Daniel and Tim) ran all day with great passing which resulted in 5 of the players contributing to the scoring. Jem and Ayrton worked well together up front with Jem scoring his first goal of the season.
Congratulations to Ben M for being nominated man of the match for his strong clearances from the back.

U9/4 Round 14

Result: Loss 2-4 v West Ryde Rovers

SCORERS: ZAC HARRIS 1, WEST RYDE ROVERS 1

Although we had all intentions of winning today, we just couldn’t do it.
WRR were also focused to win and they did.
With some excellent saves in goal we just couldn’t save 4, although we got one in goal for ourselves and WWR got one for us too making the score 2-4.

Still need to work on not bunching up so much and spreading out more over the field.
We did however defend so much better today but not enough to stop those goals.
All in all the players made a great effort.

We were down 2 players, Craig with still a broken arm and Will on holidays. Missed you guys today.

Player of the Week went to Jeremy for consistent effort. Well done Jeremy.

U7 Red Round 13

Result: Loss 2-3 v Normanhurst

Pitching up on a chilly Winter’s morning the boys were ready for a great match. The Pumas did well and had a couple of near misses. Most notable were Sam’s who almost netted the ball twice – he will be scoring soon. Jenetzen played very well in defence and hung back to ensure very few of the opposition’s balls got through. Harry had some fantastic kick-ins and has grown in confidence. Matthew’s tackling was really good and he made some great clearances. Scoring two goals, Ryan did some great dribbling between Normanhurst. Fletcher was thoughtful (as always) as he got around some players with great footwork. Jesse had a good solid game, anticipating the passes from the other team and making some great intercepts. Well tried boys, it was a good close game that could have gone either way. Normanhurst was a strong team with very good defence with one of their players in goals most of the time which we discourage our players from doing.

Man of the Match: Ryan for scoring two goals.

U8 Orange B Round 13

Result: Loss 3-7 against Thornleigh
Scorers – Harry (1) James (1) Samuel (1)

Another tough game today against Thornleigh with a loss 3-7
Well done Harry and James in scoring one goal each
Great team playing with Hamish and Joshua as goalies today
Great effort by the boys with a lot of strong kicking and defending
Congratulations to James for being player of the week. Well done !

Thankyou to David for helping out the boys..much appreciated

U7 Green Round 13

Result: Win 6-1 v Thornleigh B

SCORERS: Bryson Herald+4, Zachary Tchetchenian+1, Ben Sumskas+1

Great game today. The boys played well as a team with some great passing going on. There were some good set ups for goals and a number of close attempts. Bryson was on fire with his 4 goals, Zach scored an awesome goal from half way and Ben was persistent in getting his goal in.

Player of the match went to Thomas for playing a great game in defense and for some good dribbling. Well done.

AA12 Round 13

Result: 2-1 win v Putney Rangers

Scorers: Matty, Smitty

We faced another darth of players this week, with Dru, Klish, Stathis and Godby all gone, we called on Baz, Gav and Nick to fill the void. The game wasn’t too kind to us either, with Putney scoring first via a Forlan special, an absolute cracker from outside that beat Southy all ends up. We pulled it back though before half time, with Smitty finishing a Ranga move down the left.

Halftime saw the remaining Pumas start to drop like flies. Matty did his knee, Smitty was throwing up, Ranga has an asthma attack and threw up the pre-game kebab that made him and Southy late and Erik & Mel started cramping with all the running back and forth that was happening. To everyones credit though, we kept the game tight, and when Putney wasted two golden chances we pounced late in the game – Nick hitting the crossbar for Matty to chest home. A great win for the boys that were there, with no reserves and 7 fit men by the end of the game, we proved that Pumas have heart.

MOTM: Smitty. Despite the chucking and nausea attacks, kept coming back for more and gave us an option up front.

U6 Green B Round 13

RESULT: Won 4 – 3 v West Peno b @ Redfield 3

SCORERS: Billy (1) Luke (1) Noah (2)

A great game. The boys had an excellent game, and attacked well with good ball skills. Alec, Reis, Mario, Alexander played hard and showed good kicking. Billy, Luke and Noah scored goals with Noah recieving player of the week. Well done guys!

U6 Green B Round 12

RESULT: Lost 4 – 3 v Redfield Lions @ Redfield 3

SCORERS: Luke (1) Reis (1) Noah (1)

Hard fought match, unfortunately the boys came away with a loss. Luke played well, scoring and also received the player of the week. Reis powered the ball from near half way and scored! Noah, Alexander and Alec had a great game.

AA12 Round 12

Result: Win 6-0 v Macquarie Dragons

Scorers: Southy 2, Godby, Erik, Bruno, Mel

Our first late game for a long time had the Pumas looking to improve on our last performance against the Dragons, a 2-1 win only secured in the last minute. Basically it all went to plan, with a complete domination of the game bar some counter attacks in the second half as we got lazy. Instead of going on about the game, I’ll give a quick recap of the goals and fines:

Godby finished easily after a great through ball from Erik
Southy blasted home from the spot after another Godby/Erik move down the left
Bruno bombed a long ball, Robert Green style
Second half saw Erik bundle home a cross
Mel prove that not all Azzuri are muppets, pinging in a shot from the top of the box
Southy completing the rout with a sliding finish to another cross.

Fines were numerous including: Stathis late fine, Godby forgetting pads, Southy, Erik, Godby and Klish all missing in the first half, Erik for completely disrespecting the opposition and attempting a Totti at 5-0 up and missing, Klish butchering chance after chance and Skip for the latest tackle ever seen.

Man of the Match: Klish. Doubled his fines in one match and still didn’t score.
