U13/5 vs Kenthurst

Week 3 (2 May)
RESULT: Loss 1 – 3
SCORER: David Uren – 1 goal
For this match again we had to rely on some younger players, this time from 12/5 .Their contribution was great and deserve a great thank you from all of us.
This was an another hard fought match and the 13/5 Pumas, again, showed what they are made of. Kenthurst started the best and scored 2 goals in the first half. We could have been on par with them if it has not been for an excellent Kenthurst keeper. They scored again at the beginning of the second half and by now were leading 3 nil. Any other team would have given up but our players again really showed the depth of their determination, courage and steadfastness and started to press heavily on the opposition goal. They peppered the Kenthurst goal keeper left right and center to no avail. All we had to show for our galant efforts, was a goal from one of our helpers from 12/5,David Uren. Well done David!
Kenthurst was physically fading and our team spent the last 15 minutes of the game in the other half of the opposition. Again, the Kenthurst goal keeper prevented all of our shots to go in.
All of our players never gave up ,persisted and fought hard to the end.
To pick the “Player of the Match” was a difficult task as all played and fought valiantly , but one of our girl was shining brighter than the other stars, Jessica Duggan. Her tackling, defending, quality passing and sheer grit put her a notch above. Well deserved Jessica!
Also a very special mention for Maddie Hardy who came into the match with an ankle injury. She worked so hard to help her team. I had to replace her before the end of the first half and really miss her speed and determination in attack from then on. Get well soon Maddie.
In conclusion, although we lost the game, to us it was still a victory because our kids gave all they had and more, and this include our 2 helpers from 12/5.
I am very proud of our team and it is an honour for me to coach this great bunch of kids.
