Week 2 (18 Apr)
RESULT: WIN 5-4
SCORERS: Joshua Pretorious – 3, Harry Broughton – 2
We started as the underdogs as we had only 9 players and were quickly down with 2 goals within the first 10 minutes. However, the team was soon to be complemented with 2 additional players Harry and Joshua from 11/4. By the end of first half the score drew at 3 each due to some good scoring from Harry and Joshua. In addition, we had extremely good defending and all round teamwork that prevented further goals from the REDBACKS. Despite several good attempts from the REDBACKS, the goalkeeper (Josh McAdam) was able to stave off further scorings.
The second half was a nail biter as both teams attempt to clinch the game. The game drew at 4 each at about 5 minutes before end of game. However, a deflection from a kick from Harry resulted in PHD winning the game. It was definitely a good start for PHD 13/5 as we have only 10 registered players in the team. We look forward to Maegan returning to the team as she was away celebrating her 13th birthday!

What a magnificent victory it was, and very well deserved one as such. We have only 10 players registered in our team and started with only 9.After 10 minutes in the game we were 2 goals behind, but not giving up.15 minutes in the first half 2 players from the 11/4,Josh and Harry arrived and took there place in the team at the forefront of the attack. The Redbacks scored another goal ,3-1 then ,but none of our kids were prepared to give up and Josh Pretorius scored the first of his 4 goals. In the second half Harry scored as well and 5 minutes from the end the score was 4-4.Our kids dug deep and Josh scored in the last 2 minutes.Final score 5- 4!
Our team performed so well it is hard to single out any one of the players. They all showed tremendous character, courage ,determination and never gave up. Josh McAdam was the player of the match and sacrificed gracefully is forward position for the goalie’s one. Top marks also for Callum,Nick,Jonathan,James,Jessica,Calvin,Samuel,Maddie.
A very very big thank you to the 11/4s Josh P and Harry B who straight away blended with the team and helped us so much.
As a coach I am extremely proud of our kids and of what they have achieved.
